What is a Company in Tally / Tally.ERP9?

The term "Company" in Tally means, a Name given to "Tally Data Base File" which Electronically stores Accounting Transactions of a Single Accounting Entity, it might be a Proprietorship concern, Partnership Firm, Limited Company ( Public or Private ), Trust,  Society,  College, or School. Usually the File Name will be a Registered Business / Trade Name.

Under Manual Accounting system of bookkeeping, there was a need for Maintaining separate registers like "Primary Books", "Subsidiary Books", "Ledgers".  But in Tally the "Company" stores all books in one single file.
