What is the difference between Financial year beings from and Books beginning from  in Tally / Tally.ERP9






Under Company Creation / Alteration Screen, the field "Financial Year Begins From"  indicates, for which Financial Year the user wants to Create and Maintain Company  Financial data. 

In India, Financial years Starts from 1st of April of every year and ends on 31st March of following Year.

Where as the filed "Books Beginning from" Indicates from when the user started the Business. It is not that, every business man has to start business on 1st April of  Every Year.  One can start business in any month or any week or any day, based on various factors like availability of Funds ( Capital ), Time, Manpower, Resources, and Dedication. So user can feed the exact date from when they started the business. 

For better understanding, in Figure 0.1 we have shown the example that, we are maintaining book for FY 2017-18 and we started business from 5th of July 2017.

Warning:- For an existing company, do not change "Financial year" or "Books beginning from date" from Current date to future date, as there is a chance of loosing data. Example in Figure 0.1 we have given "Financial year begins from" as 1-4-2017, so in case by mistake if you change it to 1-4-2018, then user may loose all the financial data what he/she entered for FY 2017-18 and in same way if the user changes the filed value of "Books beginning from" from 5-7-2017 to 5-8-2017 then the user will loose all the transaction entered between 5-7-2017 to 5-8-2017.
